The pokemon studio has been long been inventory, though I’ve used it once, just for the Moon Dance video.

The reason why I avoided using this stage as is was because of that implausible distance and chasm between the viewer and performer.

Now to be honest, in real life, it’s not implausible to have to observe the action from very far away.

Here let me show you an example. With culture added to it


Having a huge space makes sense for a competition, especially for a sports event so that those bloody hornblowers trumpetting can be dampened and the team can focus on the match or if its a Pokemon match (which is what is originally is) for safety reasons.

But for a performance venue that is just not acceptable. Ever heard of the word front row seats? Front row seats have existed way before R Kelly came in, you know…

Also, the thing about performance venues and sporting events… in sporting events, especially for team games of course it’s better to view things from far away so you can see the bigger picture

It works well because you can see who’s getting where and which team is scoring. Front row seats don’t really hold much of an advantage here considering that you’ll be on eye level with the rest and therefore will be more likely to miss that touchdown or goal.

But when it comes to performance art then being able to see front row matters. There’s not much for you to focus on except for the performer and maybe the artsy-esque stage, so when you’re far away, you’re really missing out on the action.

So to answer the lack of closeness of the audience and the consideration for the far away audience (also known as realism and attentiont to detail), notice how I always have a massive screen in the background. As for the audience, in moondance, I had a sea of waving glowsticks in the backviews, showing that there’s also a myriad of fans close to the stage.

Screens do more than just show alternate angles, the fact that there is a screen there means that there’s even more people out there to show it to. But I understand why no one got that vibe, because everyone else was busy jacking off to dance in a box videos with pointless screens on them. Empty screens in empty stages. Even if the world is set in an alternate futuristic scene, the screen has to be there if it’s a large venue. It denotes that there’s many people out there for it to show to and it shows how exposed the girl is.

But, judging from the quality or lack thereof of other videos most have been accustomed to, it’s not hard to imagine why the Screen doesn’t hold much importance to them.

As I said, in moondance I also place audience in the blank floor areas. Get your audience as close to the stage as possible. Ever been to a strip club? When a cute girl gets on stage, watch how fast the front rows get crowded. A distant disenfranchised crowd means they’re not interested. And netiher was I after noticing these flaws.

And when you don’t populate the stage with an animated crowd, the still, static pictures of the pokemon stadium become noticeable in a milisecond.

And finally, the singing motion.

“Oh but, Erin, you play PSO2, you should understand that singing and half-hearted dancing can be great” yes because Quna’s character was allowed to have time to develop and grow into the player. I liked it because it was Quna, a character I came to like.

I’ve said before that most MMD strikes me as just robots dancing. But I didn’t expect this video to be a notch below this one.
